CENTENARY HOUSE INQUIRY

The Attorney-General, Philip Ruddock, has announced that the Letters Patent formally establishing the Commission of Inquiry into the Centenary House lease were issued today by the Governor-General.

The Letters Patent formally appoint the Hon David Hunt AO QC as the person to conduct the Inquiry and set out Mr Hunt's terms of reference.

"The process of selecting Mr Hunt's legal team, including senior counsel, junior counsel and solicitors, is well under way," Mr Ruddock said.

The Inquiry will shortly issue a notice of preliminary hearing, calling for applications for leave to appear before the Inquiry.  The notice will run in national newspapers.

The Inquiry's formal terms of reference are attached.
