AUSTRALIAN SAFER COMMUNITIES AWARDS
Do you have a project that improved safety in your community?
Is your project innovative in the community safety field?
Then the Safer Communities Awards are the recognition you are looking for.
The Australian Safer Communities Awards are sponsored by Emergency Management Australia (EMA) in conjunction with States and Territories. They recognise best practice and innovation by organisations and individuals that help to build safer communities across Australia.
The awards cover all aspects of community safety in the context of emergency management – risk assessment, research, education and training, information and knowledge management, prevention, preparedness, response and recovery and work on two levels. State and Territory winners are decided and recognised first, and they in turn become finalists for the National Awards.
Who Can Enter?
The Awards are designed to recognise and encourage best practice and innovation across Australia’s emergency management sector, business, local government and community organisations. Any organisation can enter.
All entries must be submitted through State or Territory coordinators.
Entries which have a community safety focus (for example a road safety program), which may not necessarily be easily classified as pre or post disaster, may be considered independently of the two categories and seven streams but must be clearly identified as only entering the community safety award category.
Rewards for Winners
Safer Communities Award winners are recognised throughout the emergency management sector for their outstanding achievement, innovation and professional standing.
State and Territory winners will receive a plaque and a certificate at a special ceremony and will be widely promoted in their home State or Territory.
The National Awards are presented at a ceremony in Canberra in early December. These winners will gain national and local publicity.
EMA will consider helping fund the further development of winning projects which have the potential for wider application.
National winners may use the Australian Safer Communities Awards logo in their letterhead and promotional material upon application to EMA.
For more information on the Awards visit phone the EMA Awards Coordinator on 03 5421 5241 or 0408 407 154, or for State and Territory entries, contact the organisation listed below.
