
Miles Jordana is Deputy Secretary, National Security and Criminal Justice, in the Attorney-General’s Department. He is responsible for matters relating to the Australian Government’s approach to counter-terrorism and protective security, emergency management and criminal justice.
Prior to joining the Attorney-General’s Department, Mr Jordana headed the newly established National Security Division of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
For two and a half years, he served as Senior International Adviser to the Prime Minister.
Before his time in the Prime Minister’s Office, he headed the International Division of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
Mr Jordana has also held the positions of Senior Spokesman for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Minister (Political) at the Australian Embassy in Washington.
Since beginning his career with the Australian Government in 1980, Mr Jordana has worked on APEC issues (economic cooperation in the Asia Pacific); the Uruguay Round of multilateral trade negotiations, including a three-year posting as Counsellor to Australia’s GATT mission in Geneva; international commodities trade; and analysis of international economic trends.
Mr Jordana chairs the Critical Infrastructure Advisory Council and the Commonwealth Reference Group on Identity Security. He also sits on the Board of Management of CrimTrac.
