ILSAC Membership and Secretariat
The Council’s members are drawn from relevant government and private sector bodies, including private legal practice in Australia, commercial dispute resolution centres, legal education institutions, legal professional bodies and other legal and related services areas. Government representatives are drawn from relevant government departments and agencies.
Members are appointed by the Australian Government Attorney-General, serve in a voluntary capacity and do not receive any remuneration or sitting fees. Members of the Council for the period from July 2007 until 30 June 2010 are:

ILSAC Secretariat
The International Legal Services Policy Section of the Australian Government Attorney-General’s Department in Canberra undertakes a dual role by also operating as the Secretariat of the Council. The functions of the Secretariat are to:
- promote improved cooperation and information-exchange between providers of legal and related services and relevant government departments and agencies, including through the development of informal networks and contributions to relevant conferences and seminars
- provide a coordinating focus for information relevant to legal and related services and a central point for enquiries on Australia’s international capabilities
- undertake research and prepare papers for consideration by the Council, including coordination of inputs from other sources as appropriate
- manage the Council’s work program and projects, and
- provide other secretariat support to the advisory Council as required.
