Personal Property Securities Seminar Series

Sydney — Melbourne — Perth — Brisbane

The Attorney-General, the Hon Robert McClelland MP, will shortly be releasing for public comment draft legislation proposing significant reforms to the law and practice relating to personal property securities.

The Attorney-General’s Department is arranging a series of seminars on the draft legislation, with speakers from both the Department and the private sector.

The reforms will establish national comprehensive rules governing security interests in personal property.  Central to the reforms will be a clear set of rules for ordering priorities between competing secured interests in personal property, and the creation of a single national personal property securities register.

The seminar series will be an opportunity to raise questions and to comment on the draft legislation.
