Certification of Equivalence by Higher Education Provider

The Family Law (Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners) Regulations 2008 allow higher education providers to certify that they provide equivalent courses or units as those in the Vocational Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution (CHC80207).

The requirements of the Vocational Graduate Diploma are contained in the CHC02 Community Services Training Package which is available through the Community Services and Health Industry Skills Council.

In certifying that the requirements are met, higher education providers must state that the course or units they specify meet the:

  • entry requirements; and
  • workplace application requirements, including direct supervision; and
  • packaging rules (for the delivery of the entire qualification) or
  • content of the compulsory units of competency (for the delivery of individual units or groups of units):

*1. CHCDFV811A — Respond to domestic and family violence in family work
*2. CHCDISP804A — Create a supportive environment for safety of vulnerable parties
*3. CHCFAM505A — Operate in a family law environment
4. CHCDISP801A — Facilitate dispute resolution in the family law context
5. CHCDISP802A — Implement family dispute resolution strategies
6. CHCDISP803A — Facilitate family dispute resolution in an impartial manner and adhere to ethical standards

Higher education providers wishing to certify that the postgraduate course or units they provide are equivalent to those in the Vocational Graduate Diploma should complete the Certification of Equivalence by Higher Education Provider form and return it to the Department.
