Vision and values statement

At the Family Law Council meeting held in Adelaide in March 2003 council members considered and endorsed this vision and values statement, noting that it would be necessary to revisit the principles set out in the statement from time to time.

Family Law Council: Vision and Values

Vision

The Council’s vision is: "Providing high quality, timely advice and proposing practicable recommendations to the Attorney-General, in order to achieve an integrated family law system that is flexible and builds individual and community capacity to achieve the best possible outcomes for families".[1]

Values[2]

To support this vision the Council has adopted the following organisational values and associated behaviours:

Client focus:
We provide the Attorney-General with service of the highest standard which fully meets needs and is pro-active, timely, comprehensive and professional.

Cooperation:
We work together and with others in an open and supportive way to achieve shared goals.

Creativity:
We continually examine the way we do our work and we encourage innovation to find better ways to achieve our goals.

Diversity:
We respect and value each other and the different perspectives and qualities people bring to their work.

Integrity:
We are honest, fair, ethical and trustworthy in all our activities and take responsibility for our actions.

Leadership:
We endeavour to inspire and encourage others to show initiative and to empower them to achieve quality outcomes.

Learning:
We actively create, seek and share knowledge and information in our work.
