Discussion Paper - Parental Child Abduction

February 1997

While 'parental child abduction' involves the wrongful removal or retention of a child by one parent in breach of the rights of another person in this paper the term is also used to include other relatives (such as grandparents) who may have parental responsibilities in respect of a child and who wrongfully remove or retain that child in breach of the rights of another person with parental responsibilities.
