Outline of communication 1557/2007 concerning deportation to Sweden
The communication, received in May 2007, concerns the deportation to Sweden of an adult man (‘the author’) who had lived in Australia from the age of 28 days.
It asks whether the cancellation of the author’s visa on character grounds, his subsequent detention and his deportation to Sweden were in breach of Australia’s obligations under the Covenant.
The communication alleges that Australia breached articles 9, 12, 14, 17 and 23 in respect of the author.
