Outline of communication 1630/2007 concerning alleged sex or sexual orientation discrimination

The author of this Communication alleges Australia has breached Articles 2 and 26 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

The author alleges that, following the death of his war veteran partner, he was denied a dependent’s pension under the Act on the basis that he had been in a same-sex relationship with the war veteran.

The author claims he has been subject to discrimination on the basis of sex or sexual orientation in relation to the denial of a pension under the Veteran’s Entitlements Act 1986.
