International Fisheries Law
Australia participates in key regional fisheries management organisations to manage and conserve fish stocks on the high seas, including stocks such as tuna species which migrate between the high seas and areas under national jurisdiction.
These include:
- Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna
- Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources
- Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission
- Indian Ocean Tuna Commission
Australia also cooperates with regional neighbours as well as various regional and international bodies, to ensure sustainable fishing.
