Legal Aid
The Australian Government Attorney-General's Department is responsible for the administration of legal assistance policy and programs. This includes:
- administering funding for the provision of legal aid services for Commonwealth law matters through legal aid commissions,
- administering the Australian Government’s Community Legal Services Program,
- managing the provision of financial assistance through several statutory and non-statutory schemes,
- administering legal aid services for Indigenous Australians, and
- administering the Indigenous family violence prevention legal services program
