
The Commonwealth Attorney-General, the Hon Robert McClelland MP, is considering a number of initiatives to reform Commonwealth legal service purchasing and has asked the Department to provide further advice in this regard.
A key initiative approved by the Attorney-General is the development of a standard form request for tender and deed of standing offer. The standard form documentation is designed to reduce the cost and burden on agencies in conducting tender processes.
The Office of Legal Services Coordination (OLSC) has commenced consultation with legal services stakeholders on the reform initiatives. The consultation process will be used as an opportunity to provide our legal services stakeholders with an overview on the proposed reforms and for stakeholders to contribute their views on how the Commonwealth can achieve greater efficiency in its legal services procurement.
