New celebrants registered in September 2008
The registration of persons who have been on the waiting list for appointment began on 1 September 2008. Notifications are being posted out from 2 September 2008 onwards. Our July 2008 advice to everyone on the waiting list was that the process may take up to 12 weeks.
These notifications are being processed in waiting list order as this is a requirement of the Marriage Act. We are not able to tell you your registration number at this time.
Your notification will be sent by post in an A4 sized envelope and will include the following:
- your notice of appointment (including your registration number)
- a folder of information to assist you in fulfilling your obligations as a registered marriage celebrant.
The information contained in this package is very important and should be read thoroughly before you begin your work as a marriage celebrant. You should not make any arrangements to conduct weddings or purchase stationery until after you have received and read your package of materials.
