Welcome to the August 2003 issue of the e-bulletin for marriage celebrants.

Commencement of the new Marriage Celebrants Program

As you may be aware the Commonwealth Attorney-General, the Hon Daryl Williams AM QC MP, has announced the commencement date of the new Marriage Celebrants Program.  The new Program will commence on 1st September 2003.

Launch in Sydney

The Attorney-General will launch the new Marriage Celebrants Program on Wednesday 3rd September 2003.  The Attorney-General will launch the new Marriage Celebrants Program at the All Seasons Premier Menzies Hotel on the 3rd September 2003 from 10am to 11.15am and you are invited to attend.  To accept this invitation please click here.

New application form

The application form for authorisation under the new system is not yet available.  A notice will be placed on the Attorney-General's Department website within the next two weeks to advise when and how to obtain the application form.

Information packs

All authorised marriage celebrants will receive by mail a package of important information about the new Program within the next two weeks.  It will include a new explanatory summary to replace the old Marriage Celebrants Handbook.

 

The contents of e-bulletins apply equally to civil and non-aligned religious marriage celebrants authorised by the Attorney-General under section 39(2) of the Marriage Act.  We encourage you to distribute this e-bulletin to your members and/or to other parties likely to have an interest.  Permission to re-print any part of this e-bulletin is provided subject to your agreement that its contents are not edited or changed.
