Security In Government Conference
The Protective Security Coordination Centre (PSCC), a Division of the Attorney-General's Department, hosts the annual Security in Government (SIG) Conference. The PSCC has wide-ranging protective security responsibilities for:
- the development, maintenance and coordination of Australia’s national counter-terrorism capabilities
- the coordination of Australia’s national crisis management arrangements in response to a threat or act of terrorism
- the coordination of protection arrangements for at-risk persons, premises and facilities including Australian Government Ministers, visiting foreign dignitaries and the foreign diplomatic and consular community in Australia
- the development and promotion of protective security policy, advice and common standards and practices
- the provision of protective, physical, information technology and personnel security training to Australian Government personnel, and
- security vetting
The SIG conference aims to expand the range of issues addressed by the conference to include protective security, counter-terrorism and the impact of the current security environment on the Australian community. The conference includes an array of Australian and international speakers, plus a number of panel discussions. The conference and trade exhibition also highlights the latest developments in policy and technology in the protective security environment.
