Territories and Native Title Division
The Territories and Native Title Division is responsible for administering Australian territories and oversighting self-government in territories that are self‑governed.
The Division is also responsible for providing advice to the Attorney‑General on native title. The Attorney-General administers most parts of the Native Title Act 1993 and has overall responsibility for the native title system.
The Division also provides the International Legal Services Advisory Council with a secretariat and the Attorney-General with advice on international legal services, including engagement in legal services market access negotiations and international legal cooperation activities.
The Territories and Native Title Division consists of the following branches:
- Territories East Branch
- Territories West Branch
- Native Title Unit (two branches)
- International Legal Services Policy Section
