Exposure draft telecommunications interception provisions - February 2007 The main purpose of the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Bill 2007 is to transfer the national security and law enforcement related provisions from the Telecommunications Act 1997 (the Telecommunications Act) to the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979 (the TIA Act) to complete the development of a single legislative framework for national security and law enforcement agencies to access telecommunications related data.
