Crime prevention is important for the safety of all Australians.
Safer Communities Fund
The Safer Communities Fund provides funding to address crime and anti-social behaviour through the implementation of crime prevention and security initiatives such as CCTV and lighting.
Applications under round one of the Safer Communities Fund are open from Friday 16 December 2016 to Friday 10 February 2017. This funding round is being delivered by the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science on behalf of the Attorney-General's Department.

Crime prevention activities
The Attorney-General's Department also funds and administers a number of other crime prevention activities including:
- Safer Streets Programme – a grants program focussed on improving community safety through crime prevention initiatives such as the implementation of CCTV and lighting. The Safer Streets Programme is funded as a crime prevention measure under section 298 of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (POCA).
Applications under the Safer Streets Programme have closed.
- Schools Security Programme – a grants program to help government and non-government schools meet security-related needs. Applications under the Schools Security Programme have closed.
- Grants to Australian Organisations Programme – Crime Stoppers 2015-2019 – a grants program to assist Crime Stoppers Australia Limited to coordinate national crime prevention and detection campaigns and educate the Australian community on avenues to report crime.
