Emergency Management - LINK

Emergency Management Australia in partnership with Geoscience Australia and members of the Emergency Management Spatial Information Network Australia (EMSINA), have created EM-LINK, an Australian online catalogue that gives a quick, comprehensive and up-to-date listing of emergency management related geospatial web services for a chosen hazard and/or region. The combined expertise and knowledge within these organisations allows for the continued evolution of a national, common operating picture.

EM-LINK may be accessed by staff in Australian, state and territory government agencies, as well as those employed in the recovery, humanitarian and critical infrastructure sectors. The information may be used to develop greater situational awareness of the current state and future potential disasters, and may contribute to the formulation of assistance measures by the affected state or territory.

The benefits of EM-LINK include:

  • access to a consistent national view of all hazards across Australia
  • improved decision-making across all levels of government through access to the same authoritative spatial data
  • increased interoperability through the provision of spatial data consistent with national standards
  • reduction in costs associated with staff resources, data duplication, storage and access
  • improved consistency of incident reporting and briefings to government by agencies
  • enhanced ability to identify capability inconsistencies or gaps
  • greater confidence in reporting through access to authoritative spatial data, enhancing strategic and policy leadership.

If you are employed within the crisis management sector and would like to access EM-LINK, or would like further information about the service, you can do this by submitting your enquiry into the fields below.
