Appointments to the AAT

This page provides public notification of vacant positions on the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT).

Tribunal membership

Members of the AAT are statutory office holders appointed by the Governor-General under the Administrative Appeals Tribunal Act 1975.

From time-to-time the tribunal requires professional skills or expertise in specialised areas, including aviation, actuarial science and social work, specialist or general medicine and compensation law. Part-time appointments may be advertised.

General employment

The tribunal also employs staff under the Public Service Act 1999. Staff are Australian public servants and are employed to perform a range of duties including management of the tribunal's registries, conducting conferences, legal research, provision of client services and support services to members.

The tribunal has offices in all states of Australia and in the Australian Capital Territory.
