Organisation structure alternate text

This figure shows the organisational structure linked to outcomes and program as at 30 June 2017.

The department's purpose is outlined in Outcome 1 of the Corporate Plan 2016-17, which is to achieve a just and secure society through the maintenance and improvement of Australia's law and justice framework and its national security and emergency management system.

The department has four operational groups:

Australian Government Solicitor

The Australian Government Solicitor is Michael Kingston. The Chief Operating Officer is Louise Vardanega.
