Affirmative measures Indigenous

The Affirmative measures – Indigenous graduate program vacancy is only open to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants.

Through this process applicants can apply for either the policy and program or legal practice (AGS) streams, or both.

As well as the essential requirements of your selected stream/s you will be need to provide evidence that you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. Suitable evidence may include:

  • a letter signed by the chairperson of an incorporated Indigenous organisation confirming that you are recognised as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person
  • a confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent document, executed by an Indigenous organisation.

Within each stream below, a √ represents eligibility requirements you must meet to be able to apply.

You must be an Australian Citizen or can provide citizenship before December 2021 to apply.
My background can be checked.
You must be able to satisfy the minimum requirements of our employment screen check and be willing and able to achieve a baseline or up to an NV1 Security clearance.
My formal tertiary qualification/s were completed within the last four years of the program commencing.
My qualification/s are formally recognised/accredited in Australia.
I have completed a minimum tertiary qualification equivalent to a three year Australian undergraduate degree.* * Must have completed a minimum of a Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor and is eligible to enrol in a practical legal training course that leads to admission in Australia, be eligible to be admitted in Australia, or be admitted to practice in Australia.
I have a strong record of academic achievement. Achieved a credit average or Achieved a distinction average. Minimum credit average Minimum distinction average
I can provide confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.

Privacy

We respect and acknowledge your privacy. There is ordinarily no obligation for an employee to share information about their Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander status. However, for the purpose of this affirmative measure process, you will be required to confirm that you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Australian in order to demonstrate that you meet the eligibility requirements.

Information collected about your racial or ethnic origin is regarded as 'sensitive information' for the purposes of the Privacy Act 1988 and your consent is required for this information to be collected or shared.
