Iain Anderson, Deputy Secretary

Iain Anderson is a Deputy Secretary of the Attorney-General's Department, responsible for the Legal Services and Families Group.

Since joining AGD in 1990 Iain has worked in many areas of the department, including as a practitioner in the Australian Government Solicitor Group.

Before becoming Deputy Secretary, Iain has led divisions responsible for:

  • criminal justice
  • strategic policy
  • native title
  • territories
  • legal services
  • classification.

He has also been the department's Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for all enabling services, and has led the in-house legal area of the Australian Taxation Office.

Iain has degrees in law and economics from Sydney University.
