Summary of the report
The Report, which included a Best Practice Guide, was tabled in Parliament on 28 March 2001.
The Report provides a framework for agencies to review existing internal review practices. It provides guidance on issues such as which decisions should be subject to review; the independence of internal review officers; accessibility of internal review regimes; the process and practice of internal review and management and support for internal review systems. The standards within the Report were formulated on the basis of research and analysis carried out during the project.
