On 6 December 2018, the Australian Government tabled the Review of the Building and Construction Industry (Improving Productivity) Act 2016. The review found that the Australian Building and Construction Commission activities are consistent with its role as a full-service regulator, and the higher penalties applying to the sector should be retained.

In 2017, the Government commissioned the national Review of Security of Payment Laws (the Review) to examine ways to improve consistency in security of payment legislation and enhance protections to ensure subcontractors get paid on time for work they have done. The final report was published 21 May 2018.
In 2017, Mr Matthew O'Callaghan was engaged to undertake a review of the greenfields agreement provisions of the Fair Work Act 2009 which were the subject of legislative amendments in 2015. As part of the review, employee organisations, employer organisations and parties that have experience with greenfields agreement making were invited to provide submissions.

In December 2013, a review into the Firefighters' Act was undertaken by Ms Raelene Sharp to assess whether amendments made to the Act are operating as intended and whether they have streamlined the determination of claims made by firefighters seeking compensation for the prescribed cancers.
