Commonwealth Integrity Strategy: strengthening integrity across the Commonwealth public sector

The Commonwealth Integrity Strategy was released on 17 December 2025 to strengthen integrity across the Commonwealth public sector. We developed the strategy in partnership with the Australian Public Service Commission.

The strategy reinforces the central importance of integrity to the effective operation of the Commonwealth public sector. It provides an overview of the significant work that has been undertaken to:

  • improve public sector integrity
  • strengthen coordination and information-sharing across agencies
  • harness information and data to improve reporting and measurement of integrity.

It also provides a framework for Commonwealth agencies and their partners to understand the integrity system, the vital role they play in it and how they can focus their integrity-related efforts, thereby enhancing trust in the sector as a whole.

This work delivers on commitments made by government and the Secretaries Board to develop an integrity strategy in response to Australia’s Third Open Government Partnership National Action Plan and the Louder than Words report.

To complement the strategy, the Integrity Information and Resources document outlines key information, considerations, guidance and resources for public officials, as well as those outside the Commonwealth public sector seeking information on the Commonwealth integrity system.

We encourage leaders and public officials who are responsible for integrity functions to be familiar with the strategy and the accompanying information and resources.
