Antarctic law

The Antarctic Treaty System is a unique suite of international legal instruments that regulate the actions of member countries in the area south of 60° S latitude. 

Australia was one of the original parties signing the treaty in 1959. Since then, there have been additional treaties concerning wildlife conservation, environmental protection, and mineral resources in this region.
