Accessibility statement

This website is delivered by the Attorney-General's Department.

Why accessibility is important

It is important to us that our information is accessible to everyone.

We are committed to providing information and services in a non-discriminatory and accessible way. This is a requirement under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992.

We take the following measures to ensure the accessibility of this website:

  • Include accessibility throughout our internal policies.
  • Integrate accessibility into our procurement practices.
  • Assign clear accessibility goals and responsibilities.
  • Employ formal accessibility quality assurance methods.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines 3 levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

The most recent audit was carried out by Intopia in October 2025. They assessed this website as partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA.

The embedded YouTube player on some of our pages is the source of all instances of "partially satisfies".

As an alternative, wherever possible we aim to provide a transcript of video content in HTML format.

Accessibility features

We want all Australians, including those with a disability or with technical limitations, to be able to access the information on our websites.

This website is designed for access on desktops, tablets and mobile devices.

You should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader.

How to listen to the website

If you have trouble reading text, you may prefer to use ReadSpeaker to listen to it instead. To do this, select the listen button near the top of most pages within our website.

This image shows the Read Speaker icon which is used to access read out loud functionality. It includes a listen and a play button.

ReadSpeaker will highlight the text as it reads it to you. Use the settings icon to change the text colour, size and how fast ReadSpeaker reads the text to you. If you have trouble hearing the voice, check your volume settings.
