The Australian Government has made changes to functions overseen by the Attorney-General's Department and Department of Home Affairs. These changes involve the transfers of:

  • identity and biometrics functions into the Attorney-General's Department
  • protective security policy and government and major event security functions to the Department of Home Affairs.

The Professional Development Committee of the Australian Government Legal Network (AGLN) in conjunction with the Office of Parliamentary Counsel conducted free seminars in Canberra during 2018 on policy related topics.

There are a number of models for instructing on legislative projects operating in the Commonwealth at the moment. The purpose of the seminar is to give three perspectives on how the way in which legal services are delivered within an agency affects the agency’s ability to manage legislative projects.
