Statutory Review of the Statutory Declarations Act 1959: Final Report

This report presents the findings of the statutory review of the Statutory Declarations Act 1959, conducted in accordance with section 16 of the Act. The review commenced on 16 January 2026 and included a public consultation process. The review examined the operation of the Act and the Statutory Declarations Regulations 2023, with a particular focus on whether the framework as introduced by the Statutory Declarations Amendment Act 2023 is operating effectively. Consistent with the Act, the review also considered whether any amendments are necessary or desirable to improve the operation of the Commonwealth statutory declarations framework.
