Social Security Inquiry
The Administrative Review Council is currently conducting an inquiry into the operation of the social security provisions within the:
- Administrative Review Tribunal Act 2024 (Cth) (ART Act)
- Administrative Review Tribunal (Consequential and Transitional Provisions No 1) Act 2024 (Cth) (ART(CTP1) Act).
It follows a request from the Attorney-General on 4 March 2025 for the Council to inquire into this matter.
The Council will provide a report on its inquiry to the Attorney-General by 30 June 2026.

Public consultation
As part of the inquiry, the Council held a public consultation from 18 August 2025 to 26 September 2025. The consultation is now closed.
The Council will consider the responses received and may conduct further consultation with targeted stakeholders. Consultation responses will be published in due course.
