Social Security Inquiry

The Administrative Review Council is currently conducting an inquiry into the operation of the social security provisions within the:

• Administrative Review Tribunal Act 2024 (Cth) (ART Act)
• Administrative Review Tribunal (Consequential and Transitional Provisions No 1) Act 2024 (Cth) (ART(CTP1) Act).

It follows a request from the Attorney-General on 4 March 2025 for the Council to inquire into this matter.

Public consultation

As part of the inquiry, the Council held a public consultation from 18 August 2025 to 26 September 2025. The consultation is now closed.

The Council has published consultation responses from authors who gave their permission. The Council will use the feedback provided through the consultation to inform its report and any associated recommendations.
