Consultation on the future of OPD for marriage celebrants

Our department manages the Marriage Celebrants Program on behalf of the Australian Government. We are committed to periodically reviewing the program to ensure it is cost effective and efficient.

The legitimate aims of the program are to apply appropriate scrutiny to aspiring marriage celebrants, support the availability of marriage services across Australia, and regulate marriage celebrants’ performance to ensure professional, knowledgeable and legally correct marriage services for marrying couples.

About our survey (closed)

The survey closed on 26 March 2021. The survey sought the views of marriage celebrants and their representatives about OPD for marriage celebrants into the future. We are collating the results and will publish them on this website soon.
